On 20 May in the club "Three monkeys" Gay.ru celebrated their seventh anniversary. The party was a success! The club had perhaps never seen a crowd such as the one that gathered on thursday night. Gay.ru received wishes from Barry Alibasov, Andrei Vul'f, Artemii Trotskii, from the groups "Revolvers" and "Gosti iz budushego", from Aleksandr Abrakhimov, Aleksandr Basil'ev, Andrei Bartenev, Evgeniia Debrinskaia, Aleksandr Moguchii, Vlad Monro, Oleg Kulik, Roman Viktiuk and many more.

- Andrei Vul'f: "In the Duma there is no sex... and no hate"
Today the deputies of the Russian State Duma rejected the legislative project on the introduction of legal responsibility for the instigation of hate crimes on the basis of sexual orientation. The author of the project, the three times deputy Andrei Vul'f, proposed a sentence of up to five years for hate crimes exclusively on the basis of sexual orientation. No deputy supported the project, and 42 voted against it. Form the seats of the Parliament there were whispers about the fact that perhaps those deputies who rank themselves among the "sexual majority" need to defend themselves from Russian gays and lesbians...

- The Slavist Kevin Moss: "Russian professors are afraid of the word gay"
The well-known American Slavist Kevin Moss, who has travelled across the whole of Russia at the beginning of the year, gave an open interview to the magazine "Kvir". His visit was partly devoted to establishing relations with his colleagues who work in the field of queer theory. Kevin Moss revealed that Russian academics have very little interest for this topic, and that in most universities a hidden homophobia prevails.

Mr. Edward Murzin, Deputy of the Bashkortostan (Kurultai) State Council has proposed legitimating homosexual marriages. According to ROSBALT'S correspondent, the Deputy introduced to the State Kurultai Committee for Labour and Social Matters, Family, Maternity, Childhood and Health the draft project on amendments to the Family Code of the Bashkortostan Republic.
